Members of the advance party travel to Wexford to look at every location President Kennedy proposes to visit. They are accompanied by Matthew McCloskey, US ambassador to Ireland. After drinks at the Talbot Hotel in Wexford town, press secretary Pierre Salinger and appointments secretary Kenneth O'Donnell study a map of Wexford with local officials. They then drive to New Ross to see if the O'Kennedy GAA pitch would make a suitable landing pad for President Kennedy's helicopter. After a walkabout in the town, the party retires for lunch at the Royal Hotel.
Next stop is the Kennedy homestead at Dunganstown, where the dog rushes out to meet them. They carry out a security check of the grounds before going into the house. They meet the president's relatives Mary Ryan and her daughter Josie Ryan and pose for group photographs.
John Ross interviews White House press secretary Pierre Salinger, who says they've made progress and will leave Ireland with a tentative schedule in mind for the president's visit. Ross talks to Josie Ryan about the family history and asks her to give him "the famous Kennedy smile".
