"Fiscal rectitude" was the main phrase for Budget 1987.

This fiscal rectitude was largely targeted the public sector through the introduction of a pay freeze and a recruitment embargo. RTÉ was there to capture events as they unfolded with reaction from the unions and an analysis of the impact for the 250,000 people on the dole.
