It has been announced that Hugh Annesley, the Assistant Commissioner of the London Metropolitan Police, will be appointed Chief Constable of the Royal Ulster Constabulary (RUC). Annesley, who was born and educated in Dublin, will take up his new post when Sir John Hermon retires in May.
