In the search for kidnap victim John O'Grady a Garda patrol became suspicious of a container on a farm at Ballyedmond near Midleton, County Cork.
As Garda reinforcements arrived they were surprised by the gang waiting in the ditches. Shots were fired and the gang and their victim evaded capture.
