One of a number of recordings made from Foynes, County Limerick, ahead of a transatlantic flight by the seaplane 'The Yankee Clipper'.

W.A. Beers provides commentary on the departure of the plane. He describes the scene as some of the passengers board the seaplane, the arrival of the seaplane to Foynes earlier that day, and the historic nature of the flight.

'The Yankee Clipper', carrying the first Ireland to America air mail, left Foynes for Botwood, Newfoundland, Canada on 30 June 1939.
