Defence Forces bands parade through Dublin as the Army School of Music celebrates 50 years.
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Army School of Music over 200 musicians from the Defence Forces Brass and Pipe Bands parade through Dublin
The massed bands of the Army made their way through the centre of Dublin with a colour party and Irish Wolfhound mascots, Conn and Breda.
The Golden Jubilee parade route goes from Saint Stephen's Green, down through Grafton Street, College Green, Westmorland Street and O’Connell Street to the Parnell Monument. It will turn and continue along the other side of O’Connell Street to Burgh Quay.
The Royal Dublin Society is the venue for two anniversary concerts on 23 and 24 October 1973 under the baton of the current director of the school, Colonel John Brennock. At the same time the Army will hold an exhibition of the history of the various Corps at the RDS.
