An Easter bonnet designed by student Philip Treacy wins a national competition run by Kilkenny Design.

Open to everyone in Ireland who wished to design their own Easter bonnet, Joan Millar and her fellow judges were very impressed with the standard of submissions. Chickens and eggs were not mandatory design elements, but the adjudicating committee was pleased when they saw originality brought into the concept of an Easter bonnet.

The winning design, 'Spring In Paris' was created by Philip Treacy from Ahascragh County Galway, a student at the National College of Art and Design (NCAD),

I hope we’re going to see a lot more from this designer.

The competition included a children’s section, which displays great creativity. Joan encourages everyone to wear a hat at Easter.
