High unemployment among young people means many are looking abroad in search of work.

High unemployment figures and poor job prospects sees many people attend an the Working Abroad Expo at the RDS in Dublin.

Queues formed outside the venue, where information and advice on job opportunities overseas were being made available.

They gathered in their hundreds at Dublin's RDS for this year's Working Abroad Expo.

Recruiters and visa experts from Canada, New Zealand and Australia set up stalls. Countries represented are seeking to attract skilled workers. Sue Cedmore, Alliance Health in Sydney, is hoping to attract nursing professionals from Ireland to make the move to Australia. Apart from healthcare workers, there are a range of opportunities for HGV drivers, tradesmen, engineers, bakers and speech and language therapists.

There are currently 440,000 people on the live register in the Republic of Ireland. 90,000 of these people are under the age of 25, so it is no surprise that the event has proved to be so popular with people considering moving overseas for work.People attending the event share their reasons. One you woman said,

The climate at the moment for getting jobs is very bad, so before it gets any worse, it would be good to get my experience somewhere else.

Another young man pointed out,

There's very little opportunity left in the country.
