Protest occupies Dunnes Stores with no progress in the dispute over the refusal to handle South African goods.

At closing time on 23 August 1985, a group of protesters occupied Dunnes Stores in Henry Street, Dublin in the continuing dispute over workers' refusal to handle South African goods. The occupation is a further attempt to highlight the lack of progress in the marathon dispute.

Those taking part in the sit-in are Dunnes Stores strikers Mary Manning and Cathryn O'Reilly, with supporters Nicky Kelly, Joe McCarthy and Eamonn O'Donohue. The protesters ended their occupation at 3 pm the following day. Leaving the store, they are met with applause from picketers and members of the public. The group pose for waiting photographers.
