For the first time, a representative from London is crowned the Rose of Tralee.

This was the first time that a Rose representing London had won the competition. Maureen Shannon hails from Bohola in County Mayo but works in a bank in London and was the London Rose.

The week long festival reached a climax with the selection of the 1975 Rose of Tralee.

This year's winner is 22 year old Maureen Shannon.

Maureen Shannon, the new Rose of Tralee, was selected from 26 finalists from across the globe and presented with prize money of £1,000.
