A Cork woman calls on women to take part in a one day boycott of Sunday Mass.
Jennifer Sleeman, from Clonakilty, asks women not to attend Sunday Mass for one day next month to demonstrate to the Catholic church that women are tired of being treated as second class citizens.
Now 80 years of age old Jennifer Sleeman converted to Catholicism 54 years ago and has been devoted ever since. She has become increasingly frustrated by the treatment of women in the church.
It is a completely male dominated organisation.
Jennifer Sleeman is also frustrated about the rules around ordination. With a shortage of priests, she feels that the church should be more open to women priests.
Women are angry because they're tired of being second class citizens.
Her call is for faithful women and men to boycott mass for one day on 26 September.
Catholic bishops have responded by asking the faithful not to absent themselves from the Eucharist.
