Books of condolence signed in Dublin for the six students who lost their lives in the Berkeley tragedy.
On 16 June 2015 Irish students who were on a working holiday in Berkeley, California, were attending a 21st birthday party in the city. The fourth floor balcony of the apartment building that a group of young people were standing on collapsed. Six students died and seven were badly injured.
Hundreds of staff and students of Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT) signed a book of condolence today. Seán Smith described his friend Eoghan Culligan as,

Queues formed outside the Mansion House early in the day, as members of the public signed a book of condolence there. One lady describes how she feels to RTÉ News,

President Michael D Higgins also expressed his sympathies.
Ken Murray and Alex Gogarty, friends of Niccolai Schuster, signed the book of condolence at the Mansion House and described him as,
An incredible person.
A book of condolence was also opened at the Institute of Art and Design in Dún Laoghaire, where Olivia Burke studied. Memorial services will be held for all the victims in the days to come.
