A rare event as twin Connemara foals are born in Galway.
With only four cases of surviving twin Connemara foals recorded in the last 50 years, this birth at Inverin, County Galway is a special occasion.
The birth of a pair of twin Connemara foals is a special event.
The ten year old mare Kiltogorra Grey gave birth to the twin foals yesterday morning. Owner Padraig Ó Dioráin said that initially, they thought there was just one foal. When the first was born, they went for a cup of tea. On returning, there were two, one a colt and the other a filly.
The Connemara ponies are famed for their small stature and are often used for teaching children how to ride.
The Ó Dioráin family are currently looking for names for the newborn foals.
