Grand National winner L'Escargot is welcomed home and celebrates with a glass of champagne.
Following L'Escargot's victory at the Aintree Grand National with jockey Tommy Carberry, the champion racehorse celebrates his return home with a glass of champagne. The national hunt racehorse L'Escargot is owned by Raymond Guest and trained at the Curragh in County Kildare by Dan Moore.
L'Escargot joins Golden Miller in the steeplechasing history book as one of just two horses to have won the Cheltenham Gold Cup and the Grand National. L'Escargot was the Gold Cup winner in 1970 and 1971.
Previous attempts to become Grand National champion saw L'Escargot placed third in 1973 and second in 1974. On both occasions, Red Rum was champion. L’Escargot's 1975 win foiled Red Rum's attempt to win the race for the third consecutive time.
