The price of oven ready frozen turkeys means that the demand for live turkeys is down.
In Gorey County Wexford, the local traders' association held the traditional live turkey market. However, demand for turkeys was low with with prices at up to ninety pence per pound for hens and seventy pence per pound for cocks. Buyers are opting for the cheaper oven ready frozen birds. Some of the unsold turkeys from the market today may turn up tomorrow at the dead turkey sale in the town.
When it comes to Christmas trees, the demand for real trees is huge this year with prices varying depending on type and size.
There are as many as 300 trees a day being pedalled at some venues.
