An Irish telecommunications company is expanding with a new plant on the Aran Island of Inis Mór.

Minister for the Gaeltacht Denis Gallagher opens a new electronics factory on the Aran Island of Inishmore (Inis Mór). On his visit to the Telectron plant the minister met with some of the workers and heard bout their work.

Tallaght based company Telectron has established a telecommunications assembly plant at Onacht (Dun Eoghanachta) on Inishmore. The company employs around 800 people throughout Ireland and 35 of these will be working at the new plant in Inishmore.

Cathal Mac Gabhan, Chief Executive at Gaeltarra Éireann welcomes opening of the factory and in particular the employment for women on the island. Between its operations at Gweedore in the Donegal Gaeltacht and Inishmore, Telectron would provide employment to around 200 people.
