Seán Óg Ó Ceallacháin continues to present the longest running RTÉ radio programme.
Broadcaster Seán Óg Ó Ceallacháin and his family have had a long association with the GAA. Séan Óg's father, John O'Callaghan, launched the Sunday night radio GAA programme in 1930. Initially, the programme covered a variety of sports shows but after pressure from the GAA, it became a programme dedicated to Gaelic games.
In 1953 Seán Óg Ceallacháin took over as presenter of 'Gaelic Sports Results' and is now one of the longest-serving broadcasters in RTÉ.
Seán Óg Ceallacháin had begun broadcasting in 1934 long before taking over from his father presenting the show. During his school days at Scoil Cholmcille on Marlborough Street in Dublin, he contributed to many Irish programmes while at school presented by Máiréad Ní Ghráda.
I'm 50 years now actually broadcasting.
Not only an accomplished broadcaster Seán Óg Ceallacháin was also an accomplished sportsman having spent 10 years on the Dublin hurling and football teams. He played for Dublin in the 1948 All Ireland Senior Hurling Final but lost to Waterford.
I'll keep on playing the game on radio as long as I can.
