Des Keogh introduces the RTÉ Symphony Orchestra with the overture from Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss.

An evening of classical music from the National Concert Hall with performances from John O'Conor, Philip Martin, Aidan Grennell, Proinnsíás Ó Dunn and the RTÉ Symphony Orchestra with leader Audrey Park.

As the titles appear, they obscure presenter Des Keogh's face.

The orchestra will be playing for us first this evening.

The RTÉ Symphony Orchestra perform the overture to Johann Strauss's opereta Die Fledermaus, meaning 'The Bat'.

Strauss knew that this would be the best thing he ever wrote.

The performance takes place at the National Concert Hall in Dublin. The concert was recorded on 31 December 1982.
