The girl group All Saints on their struggle to reach the top of the charts and the price of fame.

Founded in London, the girl group All Saints are Melanie Blatt, Shaznay Lewis, Natalie Appleton and Nicole Appleton. The group are in Dublin to perform at the Childline 10th anniversary birthday party at the Point Theatre. Directly after their performance, All Saints are guests on 'Kenny Live'.

Melanie Blatt and Shaznay Lewis performed in Ireland previously in an earlier incarnation of All Saints. In 1996 the Canadian-born Appleton sisters Natalie and Nicole joined the band. Shaznay Lewis believes their addition made All Saints sound stronger,

It's four great minds thinking alike instead of just two.

Getting to where they are now has been a struggle for All Saints. Shaznay Lewis admits that fame comes with a cost,

Not enough privacy, I suppose, not enough time at home.

Tabloid attention is unwelcome and hard to take, especially when what is written about the band members is untrue. Natalie Appleton insists the group’s private lives should be respected. All Saints are all reluctant to reveal much about their partners, although Nicole Appleton admits she is dating former member of Take That, Robbie Williams.

All Saints accept there will be comparisons made between them and the Spice Girls but they are both so different in style that it does not matter.

Pat Kenny reveals All Saints’ eponymous debut album has reached double platinum sales in Ireland. He surprises the group by giving each of them a double platinum award.

The episode of ‘Kenny Live’ was broadcast on 21 February 1998. The presenter is Pat Kenny.
