Preventive measures at entry points to Ireland against the spread of foot and mouth disease.

Strict precautions in place at ports, airports and border crossings to prevent the spread of foot and mouth disease. Officials from the Department of Agriculture, customs officers and An Garda Síochána are working to prevent the disease spreading from Britain where a number of cases have been confirmed.

Passengers' clothes are sprayed, footwear is scrubbed with disinfectant and luggage is inspected upon arrival at Dun Laoghaire and Dublin ports as well as at Dublin airport. Further inspections take place along the border upon entry from Northern Ireland.
