Women from Andersonstown call for an end to sectarian murders in Belfast.

Forty women, many of them joined by their children, march through the west Belfast suburb of Andersonstown to protest against the large number of sectarian murders in the city.

Protest in Andersonstown, Belfast, 1973

One of the women marching is the widow of Philip Maguire who was abducted and shot dead by Loyalist paramilitaries in July 1972.

She believes, if enough people come out and protest,

It may help save a lot other women's husbands’ lives and sons’ lives.

Mrs Maguire does not feel the police are doing enough to stop the assassination programme,

They don’t seem to be doing anything at all.
