Tim Hayes is buried alive for 101 hours in Cobh breaking the previous record of 100 hours.

While still underground, 29 year old former dockyard worker Tim Hayes talks to RTÉ News through a pipe in the ground. He has fully enjoyed the experience of being buried underground and finds it relaxing.

I'd stay down here forever if they left me.

Tim Hayes was buried in a coffin six feet below the surface at Ballymore, two miles from Cobh. He was able to communicate with the grave watchers by telephone and through a pipe in the ground. He occupied his time underground reading books by torchlight.

The only thing that upset him was to discover that a member of the organising committee Mr Webster was hospitalised the previous day.

They way I feel now, I could walk to Cork and back again.
