Creditors for the film 'Divine Raputre' are owed at least £1.6 million.

In July 1995 the producers of the film ‘Divine Rapture’ had issued a statement announcing that they had ceased production. The film ‘Divine Rapture’ was to tell the story of a series of miracles that occurred in a small country village in Ireland in the 1950s. Production began on the film in the summer of 1995 in the fishing village of Ballycotton, East Cork. The star studded cast included Marlon Brando, Johnny Depp, Debra Winger and John Hurt.  Production ground to a halt over financial difficulties after just 24 minutes of footage was shot.

Creditors of the Divine Production Company gathered in a Dublin hotel to hear the damage. The company's assets include a small number of sets in Ballycotton and 24 minutes of usable film. The bulk of the money is owed to the Monte Carlos financier, Kristi Prenn,  whose £1.1 million paid Marlon Brando's fee.

At the meeting John McStay was appointed liquidator. His job will involve finding an answer to the question

Why did filming begin and what changed between the start of filming and when shooting stopped?
