In the lead up to Christmas we will be bringing you some festive television and radio reports from RTÉ Archives.
In 1958 'City Newsreel' was in Glasthule, Co. Dublin for a ceremony celebrating the switching on of the Christmas lights.
The event was aimed at making Glasthule a brighter, better and busier place over the Christmas period.
'City Newsreel' spoke to Seán O'Briain, Chairman of the Traders Association, and Alfie Sweeney, President of the Dun Laoghaire Chamber of Commerce.
