Privately-held Galway-based pharmaceutical company Bioniche Pharma has been sold for $550m to US firm Mylan.
Bioniche had been owned by US private equity firm RoundTable Health Partners since the beginning of 2006.
Bioniche makes injectable pharmaceutical products, which serve a variety of niche markets.
Jack McGinley, founding partner of RoundTable and the Chairman of the Board of Bioniche Pharma said: 'We believe Mylan is an excellent strategic partner for the company, its employees and customers going forward.'
It is believed the deal will give Mylan a significant foothold in meeting gaps in the US injectables market.
