Exploration company Providence Resources has confirmed its 2010 drilling programme at the Singleton field in the UK. The field is located in the Weald Basin and currently produces 800 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
Singleton is operated by Providence, which has a 99.125% stake in the field, and its partner Noble Energy, which has the remaining 0.8725% holding.
Providence says the new drilling programme comprises the sidetracking of the X9 well to a new and more optimal location and the addition of two new sections to the currently producing X8x well. This will potentially provide another 350 barrels of oil equivalent per day, the company says.
'Following our highly successful 2009 Singleton drilling programme, the 2010 activity is again aimed at materially increasing production rates,' commented Providence CEO Tony O'Reilly.
'This drilling programme should not only boost daily production rates by over 40%, but it should also allow us to assess the impact of new production technologies at Singleton,' he added.
He also confirmed that despite the BP oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico, normal production rates continue from Providence's interests in the area.
