Japanese high-tech giant Canon said today that its first quarter net profit more than tripled to over $600m as it raised its profit forecast for 2010.
It said stronger demand for its colour laser printers and sigital single-lens reflex (SLR) cameras helped net profit surge 220.2% year-on-year to 56.8 billion yen ($600m), from 17.7 billion at the same time last year.
It also raised its 2010 net profit forecast to 240 billion yen, which would constitute an 82.3% improvement on the previous year.
