Liam Kavanagh has been appointed as managing director of the Irish Times. He succeeds Maeve Donovan, who recently retired from the position.
Liam Kavanagh joined the Irish Times in 2000 as chief financial officer and was appointed to the board in 2001 as finance director and company secretary. He has been deputy managing director since 2006.
Before joining the company, Mr Kavanagh worked with KPMG and the Jefferson Smurfit Group.
