Communications company UPC Ireland, which owns Chorus and NTL, has recorded an increase in revenue and profit for the second quarter of this year.
According to figures from its parent company Liberty Global, Q2 revenue was $84.4m, a drop of 11.7% from the same period last year. But when currency movements were stripped out, revenue rose by 1% to €61.9m.
Operating cash flow, a measure of profits, was down marginally at $35.3m in the second quarter, but again, without currency movements, there was an increase of 13.6% to €25.9m.
The company added 10,200 broadband subscribers in the three months, bringing its total to 121,600. 9,000 telephone customers were also added, giving a total of 43,800. Analogue cable television numbers fell 18,100, but digital numbers were up 11,000.
The figures were released as UPC launched its its High Definition TV service, which also includes a Digital + service to enable viewers to pause, rewind and record live television.
