INM delays 2008 results release

Independent News & Media has delayed the publication of its annual results, which were due to be released this Friday. A statement to the stock exchange said it was now anticipated that the figures would be published on April 30.

Shares in the media company closed four cent higher at 23 cent in Dublin this evening after a report in the Daily Telegraph said it had received approaches for its London Independent titles.

INM also faces a May deadline for the repayment of a €200m bond.

Last month, Tony O'Reilly said he was standing down as chief executive of the group, having been a director since 1973. The move was welcomed by rival shareholder Denis O'Brien, who nominated three new directors as part of boardroom changes.
