Chanelle Group buys PBS Sales for €4m

The Chanelle Group, the human and veterinary pharmaceutical group, has expanded its pet distribution business with the acquisition of Dublin-based PBS Sales for €4m.

The deal will make Chanelle Pet Accessories one of the largest distributors of pet food and products in the Irish market with a turnover in excess of €14m a year.

Founded in 1983 by Michael Burke, the Chanelle Group began by distributing animal health products to veterinary surgeons, and is now the largest veterinary pharmaceutical manufacturer in Ireland.

With offices in France, the UK and Jordan the group employs 240 staff and exports to over 80 countries. It has a turnover of over €60m.

In 2000, it diversified into the development and manufacturing of human generic pharmaceutical products and operates from a facility in Loughrea, Co Galway.
