US media group Tribune Co has filed for bankruptcy protection in the face of a sharp drop in revenue and heavy debts.
But the company, which operates the Los Angeles Times and Chicago Tribune as well as other news outlets, said it had enough cash to sustain operations while it restructures.
'The company will continue to operate its media businesses during the restructuring, including publishing its newspapers and running its television stations and interactive properties without interruption, and has sufficient cash to do so,' Tribune said in a statement.
