Oil prices fall as demand weakens

Oil prices - Three-month low hit

Oil prices fell this evening, hitting a three-month low due to declining demand in the US and Europe.

The loss extended a slide from July 11's record highs above $147 a barrel and has prompted some to say that oil's rally has run its course for now.

US crude was down 75 cents at $120.66 a barrel, after earlier tumbling to $118, the lowest price since May 5. London Brent crude fell $1.36 to $119.32.

Other commodities, such as copper, gold and platinum, also fell, hit by expectations that slower economic growth would limit demand.
