O'Callaghan Properties has outlined plans for an office and commercial development in Cork's Docklands.

The property company, headed by Owen O'Callaghan, has submitted a planning application for 160,000 square feet of offices and ground floor retail units on a site at Anderson's Quay.

The company says the €210m project will create around 700 permanent jobs and 350 during construction.

Mr O'Callaghan said the city had suffered in recent years because of a lack of large-scale city centre offices.

The company has assembled a 1.5 acre site in Albert Quay in Cork's Docklands and says it expects to lodge a planning application for a 'significant office development' in early Spring 2009.
