Media group UTV, which owns FM104 and Q102 in Dublin, has reported pre-tax profits of £14.43m sterling for 2007, up from £13.19m the previous year.

Diluted earnings per share rose by 13% to 26.12 pence, while group revenues inched 2% higher to £115.6m.

UTV said that its radio operating profits rose by 21% to £14.5m, after charging start-up losses of £2.4m in respect of its radio stations in Belfast and Edinburgh.

Radio advertising revenue in Ireland grew by 4% on a like for like basis, while UK advertising growth rose to 6%.

Its television operating profit fell by 14% to £10.1m, while new media operating profit jumped by 30% to £1.4m.

Television advertising revenue fell by 1.7%, which still outperformed the ITV network as ad revenues there were down by 4% in 2007.

UTV said its trading performance for the early part of 2008 is encouraging and its outlook for the year was cautiously optimistic, given the current market uncertainty.
