An acquisition by Microsoft of Internet giant Yahoo would benefit both firms' shareholders as well as advertisers and consumers, Microsoft's chief executive said today.
'There is a lot of merit for Microsoft, for Yahoo, for Yahoo shareholders, for Microsoft shareholders, for all advertisers and for all consumers,' Microsoft head Steve Ballmer said at the CeBIT IT fair in Hanover, Germany.
He said that the software group, which had its $44.6 billion offer rejected as too low 10 days later by Yahoo's board, was in talks with all these groups.
'I sense that a lot of people see the value created not just for shareholders but also for consumers, advertisers and publishers by putting Microsoft and Yahoo together,' Ballmer said.
