Newspaper circulation figures for the second half of last year show an increase for the Irish Times and a fall for the Irish Independent compared with a year earlier.
The ABC Island of Ireland report shows that the Irish Independent still leads the way in the morning market with 160,854 at the end of December, though this is down 1.8% from a year earlier. The Irish Times is up 2.5% to 119,051, while the Irish Examiner is down 0.9% to 55,948.
In the Sunday market, the Sunday World has overtaken the Sunday Independent, as it rose by 1.9% to 283,801. The Sunday Independent lost 1.8% to 282,459. The Sunday Business Post was unchanged at 53,871 and the Sunday Tribune gained 1.1% to 70,058.
Among evening papers, the Evening Herald in Dublin fell back 4.3% to 82,084 and Cork's Evening Echo lost 3.9% to 25,904.
