Irish company Havok has won a US National Academy of Television, Arts and Sciences Award in Las Vegas. The company provides interactive software and services to digital creators in the international games and movie industries.
Many of the world's best selling games this year use Havok, including Halo 3, Assassin's Creed and Guitar Hero 111. Its products have also been used to drive special effects in films such as The Matrix, Troy, Kingdom of Heaven and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
It uses a combination of next generation physics, animation and tools to reach new standards of realism and interactivity in gaming technology and film making.
Havok began as an incubation project in Dublin's Trinity College in 1998. It is headquartered in Dublin's Digital Hub and has offices in San Francisco, San Antonio, Calcutta, Munich and Tokyo.
It works in partnership with the world's best known game developers including Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo.
