TCH profits up 21% despite charges

Thomas Crosbie Holdings (TCH), publisher of the Sunday Business Post and the Irish Examiner, has reported annual operating profit before interest and tax up 21% to €13.7m for 2006.

There was an exceptional item of €5.1m for the redundancy costs with the Irish Examiner and for a premises move for the Evening Echo. Also incurred was a pension provision of €1.5m.

Turnover was €106m for the twelve months to December,  up from €93.5m.

Shareholders dividend was €3.25m, down from €7m the previous year and directors remuneration was €1.05m, down from €2.66m the previous year.

TCH now owns eighteen papers among them ; the Irish Examiner, Evening Echo, Waterford News & Star, The Irish Post, the Newry Democrat.

TCH recently acquired a 75% shareholding in WLR Fm and Beat 102-103.
