Television channel TV3 says it has reached a new deal on television programmes with ITV's Granada.

The station, now owned by private equity company Doughty Hanson, said the 'long-term' deal meant that programmes such as Coronation Street and Emmerdale would remain part of its schedule.

The current agreement was due to expire in December next year. The exact length of the new deal is not being disclosed, but it is thought the arrangement is significant and will cover several years.

TV3 chief executive David McRedmond said talks with Granada had been going on for some time and the channel was delighted to renew the deal. ITV previously owned 45% of TV3.
