Ramada chain to open 30 hotels in Ireland

The Ramada International hotel group has announced plans to open 30 hotels in the Republic and seven in the North over the next three years.

Crawford Investments, which has secured the Ramada franchise for Ireland, intend spending over £210m on  the Ramada chain. Their aim is to create the largest hotel group in Ireland in less than three years.

Agreement is already in place for seven hotels in Drumshanbo, Co Leitrim; Bray, Co Wicklow; Castletroy, Co Limerick; Limerick Junction, Co Tipperary; Lough Erne, Co Fermanagh; Urlingford, Co Kilkenny and Mountrath, Co Laois.

Crawford Investments said it already has heads of agreement for a further nine hotels and are actively seeking partners in Northern Ireland and in the Republic. The company said it aimed to have at least 20% of the hotels on golf courses.
