Patrick Duffy, who plays Bobby Ewing in the TV soap 'Dallas', visits the Aran Islands looking for locations for a new film 'Dillon' to be shot in Ireland. He is also keeping an eye out for a co-star, who must be a green-eyed Irish cailín.
Jim Fahy speaks to Duffy and his producer Robert Lovenheim. According to Lovenheim, the film is in writing stage at the moment and describes it as an action adventure film which will show sides of Patrick Duffy's acting ability that have not been seen before.
He also speaks to Limerick born co-producer Daragh O'Malley, who has set up a production company 'European Motion Pictures'. O'Malley talks about his plans for the production company and Duffy's unusual helicopter pub crawl.
Duffy's character in 'Dallas' Bob Ewing was killed off but is due to make a come back in the popular US soap. However Duffy is remaining tight lipped about how script writers bring him back from the dead.
A 'Morning Ireland' report by Jim Fahy and introduced by David Hanly broadcast on 15 May 1986.
News of Duffy's arrival in Ireland was also covered on RTÉ News the previous day when Jim Fahy reports as Duffy arrives by helicopter and is pictured leaving on board the 'Queen of Aran'.
