The National Library of Ireland is to collect and preserve artwork by children who entered the RTÉ news2day annual Christmas art competition.
Children from around the country drew pictures inspired by their experience of Covid-19.
The theme was 'celebrating Christmas 2020', but most of the entrants chose to include some element of the Covid pandemic in their work.
A record number of over 10,000 paintings were submitted and they contained everything from masked santas to zoom conversations with relatives, as well as lots of social distancing and other reminders of the pandemic.
It shows just how carefully children have been listening to the news this year, and the significant impact the pandemic has had on their lives.
The NLI is including some of the paintings as part of the work it is doing to collect national memories of Covid-19.
The library is also building a digital Covid-19 collection, ensuring the story of the pandemic and how Ireland dealt with it is collected and preserved for future generations.
