Members of the Communications Workers' Union (CWU) at An Post have voted in favour of a two-year pay deal which provides for a 5.08% increase.

The agreement commences on the 1 January 2026 and expires on the 31 December 2027.

There is a 2% increase effective from 1 January 2026, a 1% increase from 1 July 2026, and a 2% increase effective from 1 January 2027.

A €650 Voucher, pro rata for part-time staff, will be issued in October 2026.

During the period of the pay deal there will be no new cost increasing claims permitted.

The CWU said that 86.7% of members' ballots returned voted in favour of accepting the agreement.

"The approval of our members at An Post for this agreement is very welcome," said CWU General Secretary, Seán McDonagh.

"While it will provide certainty in earnings terms, our union’s focus now turns to the obligations on Government to respond to the higher inflationary costs for workers fueled by recent budgets, and the Government’s willingness to cave-in to sectoral demands instead of a fairer and broader response to support workers and their families.

"In this regard, we fully support the demands of ICTU," Mr McDonagh said.
