The position for a new principal at Blackrock College has been advertised on the Guardian website.
The ad was published by Guardian Jobs on Monday.
The closing date for applications is 13 January 2023 and the salary is unspecified.
Blackrock College and the Spiritan Order, formerly known as the Holy Ghost Order, has dominated headlines in recent weeks following a radio documentary by the RTÉ Documentary on One Unit called 'Blackrock Boys', which highlighted historical child sex abuse on the campus of the school.
Siblings Mark and David Ryan waived their anonymity and outlined the sexual abuse they suffered on the grounds of Blackrock College in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
The advertisement describes Blackrock College as one of Ireland’s "oldest and most successful Catholic Secondary schools".
It notes that it is a fee-paying day and boarding school with a current enrolment of 1,000 students and that it is under the trusteeship of the Spiritan Education Trust.
The successful candidate will be required to report to the Chairperson of the Board of Management, and it says, "will be fully committed to the active leadership of the Spiritual life and Spiritan Ethos of the College".
It goes on to say that "as a faith leader you will lead, manage, develop, evaluate and co-ordinate all academic, pastoral and sporting aspects of school life".
The successful candidate will also be required to "promote a culture of high expectations and high standards".
The person will be "an excellent team leader who will develop and lead teams to deliver ongoing improvement, collaboration, innovation and creativity in learning, teaching, and assessment."
"You will join a dynamic, evolving organisation, with a highly committed and excellent teaching staff and will enjoy significant active support from all stakeholders who share a passion for the College, including students, past and present, parents, past and present, the Spiritan Congregation and the Patron Body, the Spiritan Education Trust," the ad read.
Blackrock College has not responded to a query from RTÉ News regarding the advertisement for Principal.
