A 40-year-old man has died following a shooting in Cherrywood by gardaí searching for missing woman Jastine Valdez.
The incident happened at around 8pm this evening.
It is understood the man was spotted by a garda and was armed with a knife.
It is understood the man was a father-of-two from the Wicklow area.
A garda helicopter, a number of garda cars and support units, as well as a number of ambulances attended the scene at Cherrywood business park.

It is understood the man was shot a number of times.
Gardaí said an official Garda firearm was discharged and the incident has been referred to GSOC as per protocol.
The black Nissan Qashqai that gardaí had earlier appealed for was located at the scene of the shooting.
Gardaí have again appealed for information as to the whereabouts of Jastine Valdez and also for anyone who may have seen the movements of the black Nissan Qashqai from yesterday to 8pm today.
Gardaí have said they are "extremely worried" for her welfare and safety.
She is described as being 1.52m (5ft) tall, of slight build with long black hair and brown eyes.
When last seen she was wearing a dark-coloured jacket, a white T-shirt, grey leggings and runners.
The scene on the R760 is being preserved and diversions are in place in the area.
An incident room has been established at Bray Garda Station and gardaí are carrying out door-to-door inquiries.
