Forty-seven handmade books, written and illustrated by Dublin schoolchildren have been added to the Book of Kells Exhibition in the Old Library at Trinity College in Dublin.
The exhibition is part of the annual Trinity Access Bookmarks programme, which sees students from three Dublin primary schools write and illustrate their books over a two-month period, with the support of facilitators including writers, artists and editors.
Sixth class pupils from St Laurence O'Toole CBS, Seville Place; Scoil Cholmcille SNS, Ballybrack; and St Laurence O’Toole National School, Rainbow Park; took part in the project this year.
The Bookmarks exhibition is being launched during the Dublin Learning City Festival which aims to ensure that education and learning are accessible and free for all individuals, regardless of age or cultural background, in traditional and non-traditional settings.
