An investigation is under way into the death of a man in Co Dublin.

Gardaí are treating his death as suspicious.

The body of the man, who was in his 60s, was found in a house at Dún Saithne Green in Balbriggan just after 2pm.

He lived alone in the house but sustained serious injuries, which gardaí have described as unexplained.

The house has been sealed off as a crime scene and Assistant State Pathologist Dr Heidi Okkers has arrived to conduct a preliminary examination.

Gardaí say they will await the results of a post-mortem to determine which way the investigation will proceed.

However, at this stage they suspect the man may have died violently.
