Tesco has confirmed that is aware of an incident involving one of its delivery drivers in Tallaght last night.
A driver in his 40s was reportedly shot with a pellet gun at Killinarden Hill at around 8pm.
Gardaí confirmed the man was struck in the face by an object which came through the window of his van. A garda spokesperson said while officers attended the scene, no suspects were identified.
It is understood that Tesco drivers refused to deliver in the Jobstown area following the incident.
In a statement, the company said that the safety and security of colleagues and customers was its "utmost priority," adding that robust security measures are in place.
It added that it believed the attack was a "one-off isolated incident," but that it had re-emphasised its driver safety and security policy with colleagues.
Tesco said some deliveries were not fulfilled as a result of the incident, but customers were contacted to make alternative arrangements. Delivery services have now returned to normal.
