Two men have been arrested by gardaí investigating the vandalism of railway signalling equipment at Kishogue, Co Dublin.
The men are aged in their 30s and 40s.
The incident led to lengthy delays to intercity services in and out of Dublin's Heuston Station, which have continued into this evening.
The men were arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage and are being detained at Ronanstown Garda Station.
Iarnród Éireann earlier said that there were delays of up to 90 minutes on all services in and out of Heuston Station due to the vandalism.
Shuttle services are in operation between Portlaoise and Sallins, and Dublin Bus are honouring rail tickets where services are available.
Repair work is being carried out.
